Local Airport Information
About flying in for the reunion. The nearest airport is Ft. Walton Beach
(Northwest Florida Regional Airport) and it uses the same runway as
Eglin AFB. Also, Destin has a small airport if anyone is flying their own
planes. Pensacola Gulf Coast Regional Airport is approximately 40 miles
from Ft. Walton. There is also an airport in Panama City, but that is 75
miles away. Ft. Walton is closest, but fares may be better to Pensacola.
Both Eglin and Hurlburt have RV campgrounds. They are very nice
facilities. Hurlbut is closest to activities planned.
Best Regards,
John and Nora Doss

Our Guest Speaker at the Banquet Dinner
Richard "Dick" Snook
Dick served as one of our Crew Chiefs on the EC-47's in Vietnam and is now President and CEO of Missionary Flights International, Fort Pierce, Florida. I am sure he will have a wonderful talk about his continued work with the C-47/DC-3 aircraft from Vietnam to today.
Here are a few words from Dick and his continued service with the C-47/DC-3 Aircraft.
For your record, I joined the AF in 1966 and was trained as a crew chief. My first assignment was a crew chief on C -118's. I arrived in VN in December 1967 and left in December 68. I was assigned to the 360th at TSN. I worked the 3 to 11 shift, 6 days a week. I lead 6 men and we crewed 6 of the EC-47's that were there. I survived TET in January of 1968. After VN, I was stationed at Vandenburg AFB in California for about 13 months where I was able to obtain my commercial pilots license through the aero club. I was released from the AF in February of 1970. I used my VA to obtain the remainder of my pilot ratings including both a DC-3 and a DC-3T type rating. I was able to use my AF maintenance training to obtain my A&P mechanics license as well. Today I have an ATP (Airline Transport Pilot) certificate with over 8000 hours most of it in the DC-3. My wife Linda and I have served with MFI for the past 23 years. MFI provides air support to over 220 mission organizations that work in Haiti, the Dominican Republic and the Bahamas. We fly one or more of our three DC-3's to Haiti and the DR twice each week in support of missions. It is a great way to use both my talents and the reliable DC-3 in service to mankind.
