More EC-47 Photos Page

Photos on this page furnishied by James M. 'Jim' Robins, 6994th at Tan Son Nhut
as Morse Intercept Operator from September 1966 to September 1967. 125 Missions
and 793 Hours. The first two photos were taken to highlight the wing attach bolts
just outboard of each that required replcement after another C-47 had a wing
seperate in flight. These photos also give a good look at the early ARDF Antennas.

Before the questions, Jim told me early on, and you will see from the photos
that he was not to much into Tail Numbers.

More to come, Thanks.

An A1-E At Danang

I sent this just to tell the story. We were on taxi and about to cross over a DaNang runway when we were told to hold. An F4C was coming in wheels up. He made a great landing but missed the tail hook at the beginning of the runway, which is the only part that was foamed. He slid past us and caught fire. The pilot didn’t eject, but just opened his cockpit and jumped out. He wasn’t harmed.

As you can see he had lined up really well in a cross wind to slide straight down the runway.

Traffic Jam.

Maybe someone remembers why we lost the engine on this plane, sometime in 66 or 67. At the time we were convinced we took ground fire and the pilot had to feather the engine. But I didn’t hear anything afterwards. The pilot feathered the engine, maintained altitude and brought us back to base. We were a couple of hours out but there were no problems flying or landing.
